The first Chrono24 Get-Together in Karlsruhe earlier this year was a huge success. We welcomed watch lovers from all over Germany and even a few from Switzerland. Since we had such a great time at that event, we’ve decided to make it something we do on a regular basis. We want to meet as many watch lovers and Chrono24 users as possible, so we thought it was time for a second meet up—this time outside Germany. In the end, we decided on a lively capital with a huge watch scene: London. This is our little photo essay about the second Chrono24 GTG in the heart of London last Friday night, July 20, 2018. Enjoy!
The Swan at Shakespeare’s Globe was our venue for the evening, and we couldn’t have chosen a more perfect location. It provided a breathtaking backdrop for the many wrist shots. Their Balcony Room quickly filled up with watch enthusiasts from all over the city and beyond.
Our guest speaker for the evening was none other than Mr. Roger W. Smith, OBE. Roger is perhaps one of the most significant contemporary watchmakers. You may have already heard his name in connection with the late George Daniels. Daniels was the father of the co-axial escapement as used today by Omega, for example. Since George Daniels no longer with us, Roger Smith has taken it upon himself to keep his legacy alive. At the get-together, he gave an intriguing presentation titled ‘The Development of the Mechanical Wristwatch.’
After Roger Smith had finished, our co-CEO, Holger Felgner, also spoke for a short while, introducing the Chrono24 Watch Collection feature to the audience.
This talk marked the end of the official portion of the GTG. A big table was then placed in the middle of the room. Watch rolls, boxes, and pouches opened, and a large variety of watches were placed next to each other for our viewing pleasure.
This went on for hours. We talked about watches, took photos, and hung out with likeminded people. Thank you to everyone who came out. It was a pleasure to meet you, and we had lots of fun. For those of you who couldn’t make it, don’t worry! We’ll be back with another event soon.
